Tendril

Rock Paper Scissors is stoked to be hosting Tendril, an Oakland textile show, bringing together an eclectic group of textile artists who share a passion for fabrics and thread as their main mediums. The artists-Amber Collison, Amy Cools, Helen Poulshock and Mali Mrozinski-are additionally tied together by their exploration of scavenging and collage. Found materials, ideas, and images are scattered throughout all the pieces from illustrative quilts, to silkscreened prints, to "Thinking Caps."

A perfect fit for RPS, each artist in this show is searching for ways to integrate art with life, exploring everyday adornment, and moving with ease back and forth across the lines of art and craft.  The exhibition will be up through June 27th.

Just Because there are Questions, Doesn't Mean there are Answers

Just because there are questions, doesn’t mean there are answers is a project inspired by a game of copy cat - where each artist tries to emulate one another’s style. The exhibit will feature drawings and large scale wooden and paper mache artifacts are a result of the artists’ use of a game to stay inspired and connected to their queer histories and futures, of laughing in spite of deep pain, and constantly, creatively UNdefining themselves so that there are more questions and less answers. Featuring artwork by Joy Fritz, Sam Lopes, Matthew Momchilov, and Matthew Pawlowski.  The exhibition will run thru July 5th.

When:  (opening reception) June 5th  7pm - 10pm

Where:  Blankspace 6608 san pablo ave, oakland
